Senior Adventist Executive since 2005. As SVP, Jim chaired the community boards of Avista, Littleton, Parker and Porter Adventist Hospitals and served as a resource to all Centura CEOs, along with the Learning and Leadership team. He continues to chair the Porter and Avista Adventist hospital boards.
Prior to his role as CEO of Porter Adventist Hospital, Jim was the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Saint Luke’s-Shawnee Mission Health System, a position that he held from 1996-2002. He served as the President and CEO for Midwest Adventist Health Services, Inc. the parent corporation responsible for Adventist Health Care in the greater Kansas City area and the Midwest Region from 1987-1996. His responsibilities included Shawnee Mission Medical Center, a 383-bed community hospital, Overland Park Manor, a 100 bed nursing home; Midwest Management a for-profit company, and other related businesses.
Jim has held additional roles including the Executive Vice President for Adventist Health Systems Sunbelt, 1986-1987. The President and CEO of Tennessee Christian Medical Center in Madison Tennessee from 1983-1986. Executive VP at Florida Hospital Medical Center from 1979-1983. Associate Administrator at New England Memorial Hospital from 1976-1979, and VP/Assistant Personnel Director at Florida Hospital Medical Center from 1969-1976. Jim also serves on the Board of Governors of the Denver Botanic Gardens and Union College.
Jim graduated from from Southern Adventist University with a bachelor's degree in theology and earned a master's degree in management from the Crummer School of Business at Rollins College. He is a Certified Executive Coach and has earned certificates from the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara and from Wisdom Works in Colorado Springs.
Through-out his career, largely in the Adventist Hospital System, Jim has always focused on building high performance work environments and healthy cultures, and is recognized as a world class leader by the Gallup Organization. Jim brings a deep passion to helping leaders serve effectively, and honor their core values.
Jim is happily married to his wife Darleen. They have two adult children and four grandchildren. Jim enjoys playing golf, exercising and reading true life adventures. He currently serves as an elder at his local church. |
